School's Out For Summer

Ahh, summer. The knowledge of having 3 months of freedom has been lingering on my mind since the start of the semester. Two years of college down, two more to go. Lately, I’ve been finding it difficult to figure out future plans for life, what exactly what I want to do after school, what career field I want to go in, etc. On the other hand, I’ve been having a blast traveling, meeting new people, sharing my stories on here, and most importantly, shooting photos. With that said, I’m determined to go into a career I’m passionate about, at whatever cost. I’m not quite sure exactly what that is yet, but that’s okay. The unknown is what keeps things interesting, and I’m pumped on it. I’ll figure it out. Now turning away from my random thoughts about life, one of the things I’m most stoked for is having the ability to take mass amounts of photos and share/write about them on here. I’ve been having so much fun using this format in order to share my stories and some of my favorite pictures. I haven’t had the chance to do this too much due to the fact I’ve been up to my neck in reading and studying since January, but now that I have a bunch of free time, I’m stoked to create more stories and share it with you. My summer will consist of reading a ton of novels, spending time with old friends, sleeping under the stars (or the roof of my van), and fill you in by posting on this blog. Here are some of my favorite memories of the semester and some from what I did the first week of summer break.

School left little time for surfing, even though I live in Santa Barbara. So pumped to have a neck tan and rashes under my pits again.

A new friend, Beau Brown. The dude shreds on the wheel. He made a ton of pottery in his ceramics class and crafted a coffee mug for yours truly.

Some serious vanlife spotted at a swap meet in Ventura, California. I came to this flea market looking for a pot in order to cook my chili in for that night. I snagged two for five bucks...

Something huge happened this year. I finally shook hands with the man himself who sparked my passion for creativity, photography, vans, and the outdoors starting around 5 years ago, Foster Huntington .   I ran into Foster while he was down in Santa Barbara shooting and surfing around. I was getting out of Sandspit when I saw him posted up on shore. After minutes of getting up the courage (the dude is like a celeb to me), I seized the opportunity and exchanged a few words with him. This was one of the highlights of my entire year, maybe even longer. My dream is to one day see the Cinder Cone with my own eyes.

My girlfriend Avrie up for a visit during the semester. She would come up from Azusa and we'd scramble to the hills and get away from the bustle for a night. This is shot on Portra 160 film. I'm getting ready to develop a few more rolls so keep your eyes peeled for a post. Since shooting film is a slower (and more fun) process, I think I'm going to make separate blog posts containing the best ones from the roll. OK, keep scrolling...

Avrie and I discovered a new place that just made it on our favorites list. We ventured out to Figueroa Mountain outside of Los Olivos, CA after seeing a few photos taken there on social media. We'll definitely be back soon. PS that's a lady bug that landed on her arm.

I am so excited to get summer underway and enjoy the things I love doing. I've been getting a ton of rad plans in the works and I'm excited to share it with you. PS I would love to hear from people who take the time to check out my blog and other social media. Shoot me an email and let me know what you think. If I'm ever in your area, give me a ring and we'll grab coffee. More than anything, I love connecting with a new face. Be sure to follow my Instagram    for frequent posts or my Tumblr, links will be right below. Also, be sure to check this page often for new posts. I'll do my best to get the word out. Onward!
